This was the place where I tasted my first affogato. The thick espresso went perfectly with the vanilla ice cream. Next time I might order it with a drizzle of chocolate! The location is great and the coffee is the best too! Unfortunately there's no apparent bike parking in this plaza. Biking infrastructure consists of painted bike lanes northbound on 72nd Ave and along 8th street that makes this cafe my go to!
High quality coffee drinks and foods served in a large, airy, well decorated space. Lots of nice seating areas. Breakfast and lunch foods with a nice amount of vegan and vegetarian options. We ordered a chemex coffee, chai latte, oatmeal and vegan pancakes. All very tasty. Coffee was great
Relaxing environment to sit and sip a coffee, hot or iced! Or enjoy something else from the delicious food offerings. Very friendly staff with the occasional serenading of music from the piano and bongos set up in the back. Eclectic environment. We live in Italy and love coming here during our twice annual US visits!
Every time I come here, we are always greeted with smiles, everyone is absolutely the best. I’m sure there has to be someone sour in the team but so far everyone we have been lucky to be served by has been welcoming, thoughtful, understanding and patient. Having kids isn’t the most fun, it can be chaotic but they make us feel welcome even without little minions. The food is delicious. My hubby says it’s small portions but they’re perfect for the kids and me . The coffee is good. I don’t particularly like acidic/fruity coffee but their coffee (at least with oat milk) is not fruity, so usually I end up having two. Thank you Macondo team, thank you for the kids books you guys have handy, and thank you for playing the piano and giving us some good music to eat too.
I recently had the pleasure of trying the matcha at Macondo, and I can confidently say it’s the best I’ve had in a long time! The rich, vibrant green color immediately caught my attention, and the flavor was nothing short of exceptional. The addition of coconut flavor took it to a whole new level, creamy, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. Every sip was a delightful experience, with the earthy notes of matcha harmonizing beautifully with the tropical sweetness of coconut. It’s clear that Macondo uses high-quality ingredients, and their attention to detail truly shines through.
It’s always a pleasure coming here. The owners are amazing! I usually come here for breakfast. I got the avocado toast, I asked for a side of feta cheese and my boyfriend gets the Iron man. Keep in mind, weekends are very busy but it’s worth the wait.
The workers are so adorable all of them smile and are so friendly, the cappuccino was great! Lentils were good and the columbian empanadas. They’re different than the Puerto Rican ones but it’s good.
It’s incredible to find everything in one place, from the service, the food and the ambience, all of it was perfect. Thank you to the team that took care of us Camila on the register, David and the Coffee and manager on duty Carolina. They were just amazing. I gave them the same feedback in person. Please take the time to let them know they’re doing great. It is important.
